Bookcarts
Outreach Services librarians provide bookcart service to residents at three local extended care facilities. Bookcarts provide an opportunity for residents to select large print books, audio books and videos during biweekly visits to their rooms.

Deposit Collections
These collections contain large, regular and paperback copies of books that are deposited at two locations in the library's service area for extended periods of time. The collections are updated on regular intervals. 

American House Elmwood , established in 1985 as a minibranch library this assisted living residence was formerly the Elmwood Elementary School. Located at 2251 Auburn Road, it now offers residents over 100 books that are rotated on regular intervals .

Waltonwood at Main is located at 1401 N. Rochester Road. This senior community offers over 120 library  books in their library for the residents enjoyment.  The collection is updated on a regular basis.

Home Delivery
Librarians and trained volunteers deliver library materials to persons who are  physically unable to visit the library because of a permanent or temporary disability or illness.

Interpreter
Deaf persons may request interpreter services for library programs. A two-week notice is recommended. Please call our TDD line 248-650-7153 or the Outreach office 248-650-7150.

Minibranches
The Outreach Services Department provides library service to older persons throughout the community with minibranch libraries located in the Older Persons Center and seven retirement residences. At their minibranch libraries older persons have access to library materials in a variety of formats including large print, best sellers, paperbacks, audio books and videos as well as to all main library materials via weekly deliveries.

American House Stone Minibranch Library established 1984 in an assisted living residence that was formerly the Stone School at 3741 South Adams Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48309. It offers residents over 500 large print titles and a few reference books.

Avon Towers Minibranch Library established 1980 in a HUD subsidized senior apartment building at 435 South Livernois, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. This library offers residents over 1000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books, magazines and videos. 

Cliffview Minibranch Library established 1972 in the community center of a HUD subsidized senior apartment complex at 1691 Cliffview Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48306. It offers residents more than 1000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books and videos. 

Danish Village Minibranch Library established 1980 in a HUD subsidized senior apartment building at 2566 Walton Blvd., Rochester Hills, MI 48309. This library offers residents over 2000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books, videos and magazines. An Optelec closed circuit television system is provided for residents with low vision. A computer funded by a Library Services Technology Act grant provides access to the Internet and the library’s online catalog.

Mercy Bellbrook Minibranch Library established 1988 in a continuum of services retirement community at 873 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. It offers residents over 2000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books, videos and magazines. A closed circuit television magnifying system is provided for residents with low vision.

Older Persons' Center (OPC)  Minibranch was established in 1983 at the former  Woodward Elementary School. Currently located in the beautiful new OPC building at  650 Letica Dr. in Rochester, this library offers visitors over 3000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books, magazines and videos. 

Providence Avon Minibranch Library established 1998 in the clubhouse of a mobile home community for older adults at 2600 Auburn Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48309. This library offers residents over 2000 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books and videos. 

Waltonwood Minibranch Library was established in1989.  This senior apartment community offers residents over 1500 items including paperbacks, large print books, best sellers, audio books, magazines and videos. A closed circuit television magnifying system is provided for residents with low vision.

Proctor Exams
Distance learning students who live or work in Rochester, Rochester Hills or Oakland Township may register to have their  written exams proctored by Outreach Services librarians during regular library hours. Please call 248-650-7150  for more information.
