Museum Passes Graphic

The very successful Museum Adventure Pass program will continue through October of 2010. Due to the popularity of many of the museums the Rochester Hills Public Library will be limiting passes to two per family and one per card holder. Card holders MUST be present to check out a pass.   Passes are limited to residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township.

Passes are good for the week following initial check out, admitting two or four people to the designated museum. Special exhibits presented by any museum are not included in the free admission. Museums may designate some of their busier days as non-pass days, or even be closed for some reason. Please check the website or pick up a Museum Pass booklet from the lobby kiosk.

To check on museum pass availability before coming to the Library, you can check online in our library catalog. We suggest a keyword search including the name of the museum you are interested in visiting along with the words "museum adventure pass." Once you find the designated museum, click on the link for "Where is it?" and you will be able to see the availability of the passes. Passes are checked in at 9:00 a.m. on the due date.

hammock_1_280455_7 Michigan's Department of Natural Resources has partnered with the Library of Michigan, Macy's and The Hammock Company on the "Park & Read" program. Rochester Hills Public Library is a participating library. The program is available through October 1, 2010.

Park & Read allows library card-holding residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills or Oakland Township the ability to "check-out" a one-day pass into any of the 98 Michigan state park or recreation areas in lieu of the resident daily motor vehicle permit. This $6 savings also provides free access to the more than 500 events taking place in state parks throughout the summer.

For those interested in bringing along a library book for serious beach reading, 71 of the state parks have hammocks available for Park & Read users to borrow while on-site for the day so they can fully enjoy a great book in Michigan's great outdoors.

Passes are valid for seven days from check-out and can be used for one day; these are limited to one per family, per week.  More information may be found on the Michigan Department of Natural Resources web site, including a list of state parks, or check out a list of participating libraries.
