Everyone's Reading Sandra Brown's Lethal
The 2012 Everyone's Reading community reading program selection is Sandra Brown's Lethal: A Novel. Read the book along with your fellow metro Detroiters, join a discussion, and enjoy the power of reading. Would you like to meet the New York Times bestselling author of Lethal? Sandra Brown will be in the metro Detroit area on Thursday, March 22 at 2:00 pm at the Rochester Church of Christ in Rochester Hills and at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills at 7:00 pm. Tickets are free and required for entrance. A drawing for tickets will be held on March 12th. Find out more about the program and start reading!

Cyber Bullying
Bullying by text, email and other electronic means is the fastest growing form of bullying among youth – sometimes with devastating outcomes. On Wednesday, February 8 at 7 p.m., RHPL and Rochester Area Youth Assistance will present a program on Cyber Bullying. Come as a family and learn to recognize the signs and how to stop bullying before it gets out of hand. Eighth Grade Essay Contest
The Rochester Hills Public Library and the Auburn Hills Public Library are co-sponsoring the AAUW Rochester Branch's Eighth Grade Women's History Month Essay Contest. The theme is "A Woman of Significance to Me." A student entering the contest should answer the question: What personal goals am I able to pursue because of the influence of a woman, either past or present? The person chosen as a subject of the essay could be a family member, a teacher, someone in the community or a historical figure who has opened new pathways of opportunity to your generation. The contest is open to eighth grade students in the Rochester and Avondale school districts. There are monetary prizes for first, second and third place winners. Raise a Reader Month-by-Month
Have you welcomed a new baby in 2011 or 2012? RHPL families with infants born in 2011 or 2012 are invited to join "Raise a Reader Month-by-Month." This early literacy program funded by a PNC Foundation grant will provide families with a new book and information about literacy every month. It is never too early to start raising a reader!
