The Rochester Hills Public Library is pleased to offer specialized resources for our customers in many World Languages, learning English (ELL), achieving citizenship, improving basic literacy / reading skills, and speaking and reading in a language other than English and feature films from around the world with English subtitles .

Resident library card holders will be able to request books in many more languages if they are available to borrow by going to Michigan eLibrary / MelCat (the statewide library catalog and borrowing service). Select the language in Advanced Keyword Search.

Our World Cinema Collection has a large number of DVDs with outstanding award winning and popular feature films from around the world in more than thirty languages and they all have English subtitles!

There are ELL and basic Literacy Collection in Adult Services Languages collection for adults who are trying to learn English as second language and improve their reading or English language skills. Books, audio tapes and DVDs are available to check out, and many Literacy Resources are available on the Internet.
With over 1,300 hours of instruction, ELLIS combines digital audio and video, voice recording, role-play and native language support to create an engaging learning environment for every level of English language training.
Customers can easily checkout all types of library materials on the self-check units. Directions for checking out materials are currently available in English, Spanish, German, Tamil and Russian with more languages coming soon.
