Glenn
Klassen is Music Director of the Rochester and Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) Symphony
Orchestras.
He
has served as Associate Conductor of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra and
was Music
Director of the Mason Community Orchestra, the Mennonite Community Orchestra,
and the Manitoba Conservatory of Arts and Music Orchestra.
Recent guest conducting engagements have included the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra,
the Helena Symphony, the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, the National Academy Orchestra at
the Boris Brott Summer Music Festival and, return visits to the Mennonite Community and the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestras.
A
native of Manitoba, Mr.
Klassen relocated to Michigan in 1997 to pursue graduate studies at Michigan
State University, where he completed his Doctorate in Musical Arts (DMA) in the
spring of 2002. While at MSU, he was Assistant Conductor for the
University’s
Symphony, Chamber, Philharmonic and Campus Orchestras and also worked with the
Opera Theatre Department.
In addition to orchestral effort, choral conducting holds an important place in Mr. Klassen's portfolio. He is proud to have worked with renowned conductors Robert Shaw and Helmuth Riling. In Lethbridge, where he resides with his wife and children, he is director of Vox Musica, a 110 voice ensemble associated with the University of Lethbridge.
