Rochester Symphony Orchestra

Tips for Concertgoers

Starting Time

The Rochester Symphony Orchestra makes every attempt to begin concerts on time.  House lights will be dimmed to indicate that the concert is about to begin or resume.

Late Seating

Latecomers will be seated, at the discretion of the house management, at an appropriate pause between musical selections.

Applause

Traditionally, applause is held until the end of a piece of music.   Each composer creates a work as a whole,  which is often made up of several movements.  It is best not to disrupt the continuity of the music by applauding between movements, saving your appreciation until the end.  The performers enjoy the audience's attention when performing and, most certainly, the applause at the end.   It is courteous to those on stage and to other audience members to remain at your seats through the final ovation.

Can't Attend a Concert?

Please don't let your tickets go unused.  If you cannot use your tickets, please pass them on to friends or return them to the box office.  To return them to the box office, please phone (248) 651-4181 before the performance time.   The box office can take your seats and make them available to waiting patrons.   Sorry no refunds.

Smoke-free Policy

The auditorium maintains a non-smoking policy.  Smoking is permitted in outdoor areas only.  Thank you for your cooperation.
