Duane and Chad's railroad may be set in the transition area, but its focus is steam! The layout boasts 3 standard gauge and 2 narrow gauge turn tables. It is mostly sceniced and focuses on servicing steam and diesel locomotives. The standard gauge portion features midwestern scenes while the narrow gauge sections contain mountain railroading. Effectively blending into the layout is the highly detailed, hand painted backdrop that extends all the way around the layout.

Duane and Chad are also active in the Michigan State Trust for Railway Preservation, which maintains Pere Marquet's 1225 Berkshire.
