Featured Reviews- September 2010:

Giles, Gail. Dark song
After her father loses his job and she finds out that her parents have lied to her, fifteen-year-old Ames feels betrayed enough to become involved with a criminal who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. (Kricket says: this is a creepy one.)

Anderson, M.T. Thirsty
From the moment he knows that he is destined to be a vampire, Chris thirsts for the blood of people around him while also struggling to remain human. (Kricket says: a different kind of vampire story from Twilight. Funny and interesting.)

Lawson, JonArno. Think again
A series of four-line poems explore the feelings of shyness, frustration, jubilation, and feeling misunderstood that come with first love and first loss. (Kricket says: I am not super into poetry, but I picked this up because I liked the cover. I like the poems too! Short and sweet, with wonderful illustrations that remind me of Edward Gorey- in style, not substance...)

Nelson, Jandy. The sky is everywhere
In the months after her sister dies, seventeen-year-old Lennie falls into a love triangle and discovers the strength to follow her dream of becoming a musician.(Kricket says: Hands down, best romance story I have read all year.)
