Making the Most out of Storytime

Back-to-school season means the return of Early Literacy Groups at RHPL! Our story groups introduce young children to early literacy concepts and practices to prepare them for future reading success.
Fall Early Lit Groups begin next week on September 8. There are still open spaces available for RHPL card holders and non-residents.
Early Lit Group registration is limited to one session per season. Registration for Storytime Session II begins Monday, November 3 at 9 a.m. at calendar.rhpl.org.
Ages 0-5 and their caregiver
A fun and active way to introduce young children to early literacy concepts, physical activity, and more! This storytime will feature stories, songs, rhymes, and physical movement activities.
Recommended for ages 2-5 and their caregiver
An exciting way to introduce young children to early literacy concepts, while also investigating topics like the five senses, movement, color, sound, and so much more! This storytime will feature stories, songs, rhymes, and a STEAM activity.
Ages 0-5 and their caregiver
A fun and active way to introduce young children to early literacy concepts, music, and more! This storytime will feature stories, songs, rhymes, and play based activities.
Non-walking infants and their caregiver
A fun way to introduce early literacy concepts to infants and caregivers in a more relaxed storytime setting. This storytime will feature stories, songs, rhymes, baby movement, and play based activities
Getting Registered
Registration opens two weeks before an event for residents, and one week before for non-residents.
Resident children must be registered for events with their own library card. Children are eligible for a library card before they can event walk! Sign up for a library card at the Circulation Desk or online at rhpl.org/card

Remember to check the age group of each program. Siblings may be too young or too old to attend.
Enjoying the program
Come early and visit the bathroom before the program begins
Be present. Interact and participate with your child. Storytime sessions are developed with both children and caregivers in mind.
Take a break, it’s ok if you need one!
Help clean up
Save phones, personal toys, snacks, and adult socializing for after the program
Have Fun! Playing, talking, and singing are practices of early literacy. It's okay to get silly with us.
