Calling all homeschool families! Starting this fall, RHPL will be offering a brand new Homeschool Club just for you!
Homeschooling is one of the fastest growing forms of education in the United States and we know that there are many families in our community who have chosen to homeschool their children. This past year, because of the passed library millage, RHPL was able to hire a School Outreach Librarian in the youth department and one of the main objectives for the position was to start this club to engage more with the homeschool community. We see these families almost every day in the youth department…it just makes sense to create a designated space for them to come together and connect!
The Homeschool Club is open to all homeschooled children between grades K-6. This club will meet monthly on Fridays at Noon beginning in September. Our first meeting, which will take place on Friday, September 4th at 12 p.m., will be focused on building relationships and socializing with other homeschooled children as well as determining the focus for the club moving forward.

While we can try to figure out how best to support homeschool families on our own, we’d much rather develop the program based on what your children actually need to support their homeschool education and development! Possible activities for Homeschool Club include, but are not limited to, crafts, interactive games, book club discussions, themed events, science and art fairs, makerspace and library tours/demonstrations, deep dives into databases and other library resources, and more!
Our hope for this program is that homeschooled students and families in the Greater Rochester Community make lasting connections and memories with their peers that they carry with them outside of the library as they continue on in their education. We want all students to feel welcome and supported in our library community and to make a deep impact in their educational and emotional success.

What do you want to see happen in Homeschool Club? If you are a homeschool family and want to give your input prior to September, please email our School Outreach Librarian at schools@rhpl.org.
