As you may know, RHPL’s outreach department is also the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled for Oakland County. We call this service Oakland Talking Book Service (OTBS), and while we mainly provide accessible reading materials, we also have connections to other services that people experiencing vision loss can take advantage of. 


As part of our commitment to providing resources, we want to connect residents to those resources. To help achieve this goal, we are partnering with Leader Dogs for the Blind for the third year to host a Low Vision Expo. In addition to local vendors, this year there will be presentations, a hands-on activity hosted by Leader Dogs for the Blind Staff, as well as a discussion on Adaptive Technology, from low-tech to high-tech. 


Some of the organizations in attendance will include:

  • Detroit Radio Information Service (DRIS)

  • Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind & Visually Impaired

  • Leader Dogs For the Blind

  • Oakland Talking Book Service

  • OPC Social & Activity Center

  • Penrickton Center for Blind Children 

  • Seedlings Braille Books for Children

  • VA Detroit
