The highly popular Rochester Hills Public Library’s annual Battle of the books will be kicking off next month! Battle of the Books is a reading competition for all area fifth grade students designed to foster a love of reading and encourage students to read books outside of the classroom. Students form teams with fellow students, spend five months reading 12 books selected by RHPL youth librarians, and then come together to compete in a “battle” (trivia contest) consisting of 50 questions to test their knowledge of the books they have read.

Battle of the Books will officially kickoff on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 with an informational meeting at either 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at RHPL.

Youth Librarians will give a sneak peek of three titles during school visits, however, all 12 titles will not be revealed until the kickoff meetings on November 12th. The Battle of the Books will take place at Hart Middle School in March 2026.
