Summer at the Rochester Hills Public Library is a season filled with discovery, creativity, and fun for children of all ages. When school is out, the library becomes a place where imaginations can grow, and new adventures begin.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. To celebrate, I’m highlighting titles written by Asian authors, including one upcoming release to look out for this summer!

“RHPL is always trying to find ways to give more, and After Hours Library is a perfect example of how we can enhance library services at little or no cost.” Said Library Director Juliane Morian. “If these programs are successful, we have a chance at investigating more casual extended hours so everyone can use the library when it’s convenient for them.”

Registration for Wine, Wit & Wisdom begins on March 1 and can be done in person at the library or online at rhpl.org/friends. Tickets are $80 a person until April 13 and increase to $90 from April 14-April 20 when registration closes. Get your tickets early for the best deal! Guests must be aged 21 and over.

The Human Library works with organizations like RHPL to create safe places to challenge misconceptions about people, promote understanding, and prevent conflict and division. The organization has worked in 85 countries for 25 years, and provides resources to ensure that Human Libraries work in and for their own community.
